Dale from BFM’s Hard, Fast & Heavy show chats with Paul Martin from The Axe Attack and World War Four while backstage at the Mammoth Metalfest.

I caught up with Michael “Padge” Paget (guitars) and Michael “Moose” Thomas (drums) this afternoon from Bullet For My Valentine before their show tonight with Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu.
Stay tuned for that interview on Rockzilla coming very soon.
Just before Korn’s Auckland concert at Vector Arena on Thu 24 April, I got the chance to sit down with Korn bassist Fieldy and have a bit of a chat.
The interview will screen soon on Rockzilla/Alt TV very soon and I’ll keep you posted as to when.
Two interesting things I’ll share at the moment is that Fieldy has written an autobiography titled ‘Got The Life’ and he insists people’s jaws will drop when they read it. It’s available for pre-order from Amazon.
Korn’s next album will be recorded with Ross Robinson who produced Korn’s first two albums. He says they want to go back and capture that raw sound.
Blabbermouth – San Antonio cult STUF-TV show “Robb’s MetalWorks” has launched a new “Archival Series” via the web.
The first release in this special series is an interview with Vinnie Paul Abbott and Pat Lachman of DAMAGEPLAN conducted on January 28, 2004 in Boerne, Texas, a couple of weeks before the release of the band’s debut album, “New Found Power”.
The interview highlights much of the band’s feelings on its formation and music and sees the group in great spirits (with “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott and Bob Zilla mustering in the background) after having just signed over 1,500 autographs for fans in the San Antonio region.
Watch the interview below.
“Dimebag” Darrell Abbott was co-founder and lead guitarist for PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul formed DAMAGEPLAN. On Dec. 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old.
Mark Carras of RockMyMonkey.com recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH bassist James Lomenzo. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
Rock My Monkey: This CD does have a few songs on it with very strong political lyrics. Did you have any input in that at all?
James Lomenzo: Just occasionally standing up and applauding and sitting down and keeping my mouth shut. (Laughs) This is off the typewriter of Dave Mustaine, and I got to say, you know, interestingly enough, I listened to some of the lyrics, “Amerikhastan”, when he first wrote them, and my initial reaction was, “You’re going to get yourself in a lot of trouble here.” But then I started reading a little deeper into it, and I started to think, and I asked him this a few times, I said, “You’re not really sitting on one position here, are you? You’re just kind of weaving this tapestry of popular notion and ideas.” He didn’t agree with me on that, either, but that’s kind of the way I interpreted it, anyway. So yeah, I mean, I felt very comfortable getting behind this stuff after I kind of read through it a few times and figured out exactly what was going on. For the most part I can’t imagine too many people who are that continually enchanted with the current administration across the board.

UK’s Rock Sound recently conducted an interview with MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn for the cover of the magazine’s 102nd issue — the first time MACHINE HEAD has graced the front page of the publication. An excerpt from the chat follows:
Rock Sound: How do you look back on [the Eighties when Flynn dabbled in drugs]?
Flynn: They were great times, it was not a self-destructive thing; we were just partying a lot and I was doing a lot of speed. We were seventeen-year-old kids going to thrash shows and everyone did speed there; it gave you balls to go crazy and go stagedive. All our idols and all the bands were doing it and it got to a point where it became bad for me but it did not ruin my life.

When did you first start writing the new record? And when did you decide not to carry any of the left over material forward from ‘With Teeth’?
“When I finished With Teeth there were a handful of tracks that didn’t make the record. Tracks that I liked but in the context of the rest of the record it didn’t fit in so… I got done with the record and went on tour, I found myself bored out of my mind, it’s fun to play a show, but the rest of the day if just waiting around for the show. So I started messing around with… if the ‘limitation’ is that all I have is a laptop in my hotel room…”

OnTrackMagazine.com: There seemed to be a little bit of animosity that you guys were goin’ on first (before MARILYN MANSON) and that you would even be on tour with somebody like MANSON to begin with, being that his music’s very different and not something that the average SLAYER fan would embrace.
Tom: Yeah, it was an odd bill, and we got the audience I figured we were gonna get and that was an audience that people didn’t come to see us; the same with MANSON. A lot of the people that came to the show I think came because they wouldn’t come to see just MANSON or SLAYER, but since they were playing together, “Let’s go check it out.”
And I think a lot of our crowd was that; we got this kind of crowd on this entire tour. So it did well for everybody because this is our third time now goin’ through and we were doin’ really well, as far as merch sales we did the same. We did the same amount the last time as this time so we did really well; it showed good numbers for us.
We had a really positive growth and response. So it worked out really well for us. Like I said, we were on prime-time, 8 o’clock. The only thing is, like you said, a lot of people just assumed that we would headline, and that was the one thing that we let it be known a long time ago: this is a co-headline bill — but — we’re gonna kick his ass every night. (Laughs) We’re gonna open up and kick his ass every night. That’s by his choice! (Laughs)

Dino Cazares has a dream? to make a classic metal album to rival metal?s greatest!
Speaking recently to MetalReview.com, the former Fear Factory guitarist said, “I definitely feel competitive with myself and what I created back in the day. I would love to write another “Demanufacture” classic album.
Not something of the same style, but a classic metal record. I think that is something that all musicians strive for. To have that METALLICA “Master of Puppets”-, SLAYER “Reign in Blood”-, FEAR FACTORY “Demanufacture”-, PANTERA “Vulgar Display of Power”-type album. That’s my goal for this band; to try and write that record. Read more »
